The “Tai Po Wang Fuk Court Newborn Subsidy Program” was initiated by the 20th Compassion Award 2025 awardee, Mr. Wang Jin-pyng, Founding Chairman of the FORMOSA CANCER FOUNDATION. He rallied friends in Taiwan to jointly donate NT$6 million (approximately HK$1.5 million) to support newborns from disaster-affected families in Wang Fuk Court.
As of April 30 this year, the program has approved and disbursed subsidies to 13 eligible residents, granting HK$20,000 for each newborn. The subsidy is issued in the form of a cheque, which can be deposited directly into the applicant’s bank account or collected in person at the Fund’s office. For those who collect the subsidy in person, the Fund also provides complimentary KAWAI kanyu drop and a HIPP organic baby product gift set valued at HK$1,000. In addition, families who visit with their newborns will receive a festive red packet from the Compassion Award Founder Mr. Lin Tian-maw, as a blessing for the child’s healthy growth, along with a commemorative photo.
The program is still open for applications (with a planned quota of 100 beneficiaries). Newborns born in Hong Kong on or after January 1, 2025, whose father or mother is a resident of Tai Po Wang Fuk Court, are eligible to receive a HK$20,000 subsidy.
